What’s it all About?

Fun, body-positive 45-minute monthly masked group workouts.

Strength training portions will be done with body weight and/or resistance bands, while cardio portions can be done from seated or standing positions.

This class is all about hyping ALL participants, no matter where they’re at!

Scholarships and subsidies are also available for eligible participants via the Community Access Fund!

Autonomy Fitness × Kind Yoga Studio

Where and When is it?

Classes will be held the first Tuesday of every month, from 12:15-1:00pm, at Kind Yoga Studio in Nanaimo, Unceded Snuneymuxw Territories.

Kind Yoga Studio is located in the heart of Nanaimo, at 104 Front St, inside of Island Integrative Health Clinic, which offers massage therapy and other stress-relieving treatments.

There is street parking on front street either one block north of the studio, (or about 2 blocks south). Alternatively, there is a parkade located right behind the studio building.

There is one stair from the street level into the Island Integrative Health Clinic.The doorway to the studio and the interior front door are power assisted and both 2' 11" wide.The exterior front door is power assisted and is 2' 10" wide.Once inside, there are 3 stairs up to the level that the studio is on. Note that clients seeking other services will likely be unmasked in the lobby.There are two all gender bathrooms. The bathroom doorways are 26 inches wide, and are not power assisted. There are no grab bars in the bathrooms.

Note that doorway measurements above are for when the door is closed. When it is open, the functional width is a little smaller.

What COVID mitigations are in place?

Classes are limited to 6 participants so that there is ample room for spacing.

Ruby will rapid test before teaching, and participants are encouraged to as well.

N95 masks (or better) are required and will also be available on site.

HEPA filter will be in the studio, and two windows will be open.

With her sense of humour and compassion, and her up to date expertise about which exercises are most effective for targetting specific goals, Ruby has helped me become more solid in my body and more confident working out, not only during our training sessions but in my day to day life. She’s an absolute gem for anyone who has wanted to work with a personal trainer to get healthier and stronger, but who doesn’t want to deal with gym culture. I’m so excited to get to come to my next session!
